Your Hair Consultation at Langley Park
A good hair consultation is about much more than choosing a colour or showing your stylist a picture. It’s about having an honest conversation about your hair, what you want to achieve and what is realistically possible.
Our experienced stylists take the time to listen to what you want, ask the right questions and assess your hair and scalp before recommending a service. We’ll explain everything in straightforward, jargon-free language, including what we can achieve, how we’ll get there, how much it is likely to cost and how you’ll need to look after your hair afterwards.
We’ll also be honest if we don’t think something is suitable for your hair at that time. We will never compromise the condition or integrity of your hair just to achieve a particular result.
There really is no such thing as a silly question during a consultation. The more we understand about your hair, your lifestyle and what you want to achieve, the better we can advise you. You can also change your mind or ask us to look at different options during the consultation.
Most importantly, we want you to leave knowing what is going to happen, what your stylist recommends and why.
Please note: We are a colour responsible salon, which means we will require you to pop in for a quick skin test 48 hours before your hair colour appointment.
To secure your colour appointment, a deposit is required for all clients. You will receive a payment link via text the week before your appointment, or you can visit the salon to pay in person. Deposits must be paid at least 48 hours before your appointment to confirm your booking. Thank you for your understanding!

What happens during your consultation?
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed at reception and your stylist will take you through your consultation. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted at reception and taken to your seat, where your stylist will carry out your consultation. A private area is also available if you need or would prefer a little more privacy.
We’ll start by talking about your hair history, including previous colours, chemical treatments, extensions or other services. We’ll also chat about your lifestyle, how you normally wear your hair, your current haircare routine and, importantly, what you would like to achieve.
Bring along any photos or screenshots of hair you like. It’s also useful to show us anything you don’t like. Inspiration pictures give us a starting point, but we’ll look at how that particular colour, cut or style would translate to your own hair.
Your stylist will then assess your hair and scalp, looking at things such as condition, strength, texture, density, previous damage and scalp health. Some services require the hair to be in particularly good condition, while a healthy scalp is important before carrying out chemical services.
We’ll then talk through the options with you. If your chosen look is achievable in one appointment, we’ll explain what is involved. If it needs more than one visit, we’ll tell you upfront and create a realistic plan rather than trying to do too much in one appointment.
Testing is part of the process
Depending on the service you’re considering, your stylist may need to carry out some tests during or after your consultation to make sure your hair and scalp are suitable and that it’s safe to proceed. This could include a colour allergy or patch test, a strand test for a perm, or checking the condition and suitability of your hair for extensions or a hair replacement system.
If you’re considering a colour change, we also have a range of coloured hair pieces to help you get a better idea of how different shades could look against your skin tone and existing hair. We can also use digital tools where helpful to give you a visual idea of different colours or styles before you make your decision.
Sometimes, the look you want simply isn't possible in one appointment. Previous colour, chemical treatments, heat damage or the current condition of your hair can all affect what can safely be achieved. If we don't think a particular service is suitable, we'll explain why and talk you through the alternatives.
We won't compromise the condition or integrity of your hair just to achieve a result on the day. Instead, we can create a hair plan with you, which might involve changing the technique, working towards your desired colour over several appointments or giving your hair time to become stronger and healthier first. The aim is to make sure you and your stylist have a clear understanding of what is achievable, how you'll get there and what will be involved along the way.

When do I need a consultation?
Some services need a little more planning, so a consultation is essential before we can book your appointment. This gives your stylist time to understand your hair, assess its condition, and make sure the service you’re considering is right for you.
A consultation is essential for:
- Hair extensions
- Hair replacement systems
- Perms
- Colour changes
- Chemical services for new clients
We also recommend having a consultation before restyles, smoothing treatments and other significant changes, particularly if you have previous colour or chemical treatments. For existing clients, a consultation is required before a colour change, even if you have been visiting the salon for some time.
The timing of your consultation will depend on the service you’re considering:
For extensions and hair replacement systems, we recommend a consultation around one week before your appointment. This gives us time to assess your hair, discuss your requirements and order the correct hair or system for you. For perms, your consultation should take place at least a couple of days beforehand, as your stylist may need to carry out a strand test to check whether your hair is suitable and confirm that the service can safely go ahead. For most other services, your consultation can usually take place on the same day before your service, where appropriate.
What about cost?
We’ll discuss your expected cost during your consultation so you have a clear idea of what your service is likely to involve before you book. If you decide to go ahead, you can book your appointment there and then, or have a think before getting back in touch.
A full aftercare and maintenance plan will also be discussed, including how to look after your hair at home and when you are likely to need your next appointment.
Consultations can also be booked separately. They take around 15–30 minutes and cost £15. If you go ahead with a chemical service, the £15 consultation fee will be deducted from your final bill.
Once your consultation is complete and you decide to book, a 50% deposit is required. Deposits are refundable up to 48 hours before your appointment. Read our salon policies.
